Painters Across Ryde & North West Sydney
Interior, exterior and roof painting throughout Ryde, Eastwood, Epping, Macquarie Park, Gladesville and Meadowbank. Thorough preparation, tidy crews and clear fixed pricing.
Ryde and the surrounding North West suburbs sit on the northern side of the Parramatta River, and the area has a very particular character: leafy, established, and dominated by solid mid-century brick homes on generous blocks, with a modern high-rise layer around Macquarie Park and Meadowbank layered on top. Maestro Painting has been working across this part of Sydney for more than 20 years, and the mid-century brick home is one of the building types we know best.
Drive through Ryde, West Ryde, Denistone, East Ryde or much of Eastwood and the pattern is consistent: double-brick homes built through the 1950s and 1960s, wide eaves, timber-framed windows, a tile roof and a decent garden. These were built to last, and structurally they usually have. What they need is maintenance on the vulnerable parts. The eaves and fascias are almost always first to go, then the gutters, barge boards, window frames and garage door. Our exterior painting work on these houses starts with an honest assessment of what genuinely needs doing, then proper washing, scraping, sanding, filling and priming before full topcoats.
Painting original face brick is one of the most transformative jobs we do out here, and one of the easiest to get wrong. Bare masonry needs a thorough clean, any efflorescence addressed and a genuine masonry sealer before topcoats. Skip the sealer and the finish starts patching and lifting within a couple of years. Done properly it takes a 1960s brick home and makes it read as a completely contemporary house.
Established tree cover is the other defining feature here, and it cuts both ways. It keeps the suburbs beautiful and the summers bearable, but shaded southern walls, eaves, fences and roof tiles hold moisture and grow mould and lichen faster than they do on open blocks. We treat those surfaces before painting rather than sealing the problem in under a fresh coat. The same applies to roof painting and restoration, which is worth doing properly given how many tile roofs in this area are now five or six decades old and have lost their surface glaze entirely.
Parts of Epping and Eastwood also retain genuinely lovely Federation and inter-war homes, with timber gable detail, deep verandahs, leadlight windows and decorative interiors carrying picture rails and deep cornices. Those are slower, more detailed jobs, and our interior painting team treats them accordingly. Down along the river at Meadowbank, Putney and Gladesville, the damper microclimate asks for more care on timber trim, decking and metal fixings.
The modern layer is real too. Macquarie Park is a major office and business precinct, and the apartment stock around it and along the river at Meadowbank and Rhodes generates steady work in both commercial painting and residential strata. And while the North West keeps us busy, we are painters across Sydney: Maestro Painting works right across greater Sydney, and you can see every region we cover on our Sydney service areas page.

Painting Suited to North West Housing and Setting
The dominant housing type across Ryde, West Ryde, Denistone, East Ryde, North Ryde and much of Eastwood is the mid-century double-brick home. Generous eaves, timber-framed windows, a tile roof and a solid masonry shell. On these houses the paint work concentrates in a predictable set of places, and knowing that means we can quote accurately rather than padding the scope.
Epping and pockets of Eastwood add an older, more decorative layer: Federation and inter-war homes with gable fretwork, verandah posts, leadlight and detailed interiors. These are genuinely different jobs, with most of the labour sitting in the timber preparation and the cutting-in rather than in the broad wall area.
Then there is the vertical layer around Macquarie Park, Meadowbank, North Ryde and along the river toward Rhodes, where apartment buildings and office towers dominate. That work is about coordinated access, protected common areas, quiet operation and a crisp modern finish. Across all three, the shared local factor is the tree cover and the river proximity, which together create damper, shadier conditions than most of Sydney and make proper mould treatment a non-negotiable part of the preparation.

Ryde & North West painting FAQs
The questions we hear most from local homeowners. Still curious? Just get in touch.
Do you paint the mid-century brick homes common across Ryde and Eastwood?
Yes, they are a big part of our work in this area. Ryde, West Ryde, Eastwood and Denistone are full of solid double-brick homes from the 1950s and 1960s with wide eaves, timber-framed windows and tile roofs. The brickwork is usually sound, so the real work sits in the eaves, fascias, gutters, window frames and garage doors.
Can you paint original face brick on a 1960s Ryde home?
Yes, and done properly it completely changes how a house presents. Bare brick needs a thorough clean, any efflorescence addressed and a genuine masonry sealer before topcoats. Skipping the sealer is the most common reason painted brick starts patching and lifting a couple of years later. See our exterior painting service.
Do you paint apartments around Macquarie Park and Meadowbank?
Yes. Macquarie Park, Meadowbank, Rhodes and the corridor along the Parramatta River have a lot of newer apartment stock. We paint individual units and common areas, book lifts and loading access with building management and keep noise and disruption to a minimum for other residents.
Do you paint the Federation homes in Epping?
We do. Parts of Epping and Eastwood retain lovely Federation and inter-war homes with timber gable detail, deep verandahs, leadlight windows and decorative interiors. These are detail-heavy jobs and we take the time on trim, sashes and fretwork rather than rushing them.
Do trees and shade cause problems for paintwork in this area?
They do, more than people expect. Ryde and Epping have plenty of established tree cover, and shaded southern walls, eaves and fences hold moisture and grow mould and lichen. We treat those surfaces properly before painting rather than coating over them, which is the only way to stop it returning through the new finish.
Are homes near the Parramatta River affected by moisture?
Lower streets around Meadowbank, Putney and the Gladesville waterfront hold more moisture in the air, which is harder on timber trim, decking and metal fixings. We treat any rust, prime bare timber properly and choose products suited to that damper microclimate.
Do you paint roofs in Ryde and the North West?
Yes. A very large number of concrete and terracotta tile roofs in this area are now fifty or sixty years old and have lost their surface seal entirely. We clean, treat moss and lichen, re-bed and repoint ridge capping where needed, then apply a full membrane roof coating.
Do you take on commercial work around Macquarie Park?
Yes. Macquarie Park is a major office and business precinct, and we paint offices, retail spaces, medical suites and light commercial premises across the area, scheduling after hours or in stages so operations continue normally.
How much does it cost to paint a house in Ryde or Epping?
It depends on size, substrate and condition, and preparation is usually the biggest variable. A tidy brick home is a very different proposition to one with flaking eaves and perished timber trim. We inspect the property and provide a free written quote with a fixed price and no hidden extras.
Do you work in other parts of Sydney as well?
Yes. Ryde and the North West are core areas for us, but we are painters across Sydney and work right across greater Sydney, from the North Shore and Hills District through to the Inner West, Parramatta and the southern suburbs.
